On the afternoon of July 2nd, Dr. Krishna P. Paudel, a senior overseas expert and professor of agricultural economics and enterprise management at Louisiana State University, visited our school to discuss the cooperation and exchange between Louisiana State University and Sichuan Agricultural University in a colloquium. Participants of the colloquium include: Mr. Chen Daiwen, the vice-chancellor, Mr. Zhang Xiaoping, director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division, Mr. Jiang Yuansheng, dean of the School of Economics, and Mr. Wu Ping, the vice President.
On behalf of Zheng Youliang, the president of Sichuan Agricultural University, Mr. Chen Daiwen gave a welcome speech in English and expressed warm welcome to the arrival of Dr. Paudel. Then he introduced the situation of international cooperation and exchange projects in recent years, especially the exchange and cooperation projects between the two universities since 2013, which have achieved fruitful results. Mr. Chen Daiwen also expressed gratitude to Dr.Paudel for his careful guidance to our school's visiting teachers, and to the Louisiana State University for their support of the talent cultivation plan of our school. Besides, he affirmed the fruitful results of the previous cooperation, and also shown the expecting of further cooperation in the fields of talent exchange and agricultural research between the two universities in the colloquium.
Dr. Paudel also affirmed the results of the cooperation between the two universities in the past few years. He shows great interests in projects of open short-term exchanges with American students, international business internships, and undergraduate exchanges after he learned about the exchange programs between the School of Economics of Sichuan Agricultural University and the universities in Britain, France and Germany. At the same time, both sides reached a consensus on the annual delivery of senior US experts to the Sichuan Agricultural University.

Dr.Paudel gave an academic lecture of "My experience of editing the Handbook of Agricultural Economics: Some thoughts from agricultural and environmental economics" to the teachers and students of School of Economics after the colloquium.
The lecture was hold by Mr. Jiang Yuansheng, and there are more than 40 teachers, doctors and postgraduates from the School of Economics attended the lecture.
In the lecture, Dr.Paudel first introduced that the Handbook of Agricultural Economics is forward-looking and it summarizes the latest researches and developments in the field of agricultural. It mainly involves the studies of six aspects, from food economics, environmental resources to international trade. Then he shared the process and value of making this handbook, and elaborated some important model parameter involved in the handbook. Next, he analyzed the situation of discharge of sulfur dioxide and wastewater in some China cities, which aroused widespread concern among teachers and students.
After the lecture, the teachers and students asked questions about the key points mentioned in the report and the trend of agricultural research. Dr. Paudel actively answered the questions of teachers and students and expressed his expectation for further exchanges and cooperation with our school.
Professor Krishna.P.Paudel received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Georgia in 1999. Now, he is a professor of Department of Agricultural Economics and Enterprise Management at Louisiana State University and the chief editor of the Journal of Agricultural and Practical Economics, a leading journal in the US agricultural industry. He has achieved fruitful research results in the field of agricultural economic management. He has engaged in the research of environmental economics, international development economics and agricultural economics for years. In recent years, with his rich working and research experience, he has published more than 70 journal articles such as SSCI.
